Every two years, the APHA Summer World Championship Show is infused with a
multi-cultural vibe. Mixed with the announcer’s patter and traditional horse
show sounds, the air is filled with Aussie twangs, German accents and lovely
French harmonies. Swedes, Dutch and Canadians mingle with the crowds, giving the
event a real international flavor. Without a doubt, the Youth World Games are
back.
First organized in 2004, the event has had a profound and lasting impact
on young exhibitors and their families over the years. Talk to any previous
participant, and you’ll find the memory of the Youth World Games is still
burning brightly. When asked, they’ll tell you about dreams fulfilled and
life-changing experiences.
As event organizers prepare to host the fourth Youth
World Games in Fort Worth, Texas, June 22–28, the Journal caught up with past
participants and looked at the challenges and changes in store for 2010. |
