Since APHA’s earliest days, exhibitors have paired fashion-forward ideals with traditional Western attire for a look as unique as the horses they show. While trends have morphed over the association’s 50-year history, one consistency is evident: no matter your taste in clothing, a Paint is always the best accessory. The Paint Horse Journal spoke to APHA judge Meri McKillips-LeMay, APHA trainers Tim Gillespie and Pat Trebesch, and English fashionista Elizabeth “Spike” Brewer for their recollections of horse show couture.
