Go West Young Man
By Abigail Wilder Boatwright
Packing in 144 classes over a five-day show, the Western Paint World, hosted by the Central California Paint Horse Club (CCPHA), boasted 864 entries and 213 horses at the event, held October 14–18, 2009, at the Kern County Fairgrounds in Bakersfield, California.

With pleasant weather, upgraded grounds equipment and staff that aimed to please, the Western Paint World—ranked Number 6 on the 2008 APHA Top 20 Shows list—offered competitors an opportunity to show off their young stock in futurities, bid on stallions in the stallion service auction (SSA) and compete under four judges during the Paint-O-Rama (POR).
